The Marvelous Fortress in Sri Lanka
The mirror wall and spiral stairs leads to the frescoes. Originally the mirror wall was so highly polished as the king could see himself when he walked alongside it. It has made of brick masonry and covered in highly polished white plaster. The wall is now partially covered with 'Sigiri Graffiti' verses scribbled by visitors about the King Kashyapa and Sigiri Frescoes. There is a song about Sigiri Graffis which was sang by the famous singer Sunil Shantha.
King Kassapa has reverted his fortress to an ecological wonder by having Royal Pleasure Gardens, Water Gardens and Fountain Gardens made inside the inner city as well as at the palace premises. The Gardens of the Sigiriya city are one of the most important aspects of the site. It is among the oldest landscaped gardens in the world. Mogalan the elder brother of King Kashyapa returned the capital back to Anuradhapura and turned Sigiriya to a Monastory complex.
Sigiriya today is a UNECSO listed World Heritage Site. It's one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning. Today Sigiriya is a major tourist attractive place in Sri Lanka.
